High-Performance PLC Network Equipment

Telkonet uses Series 5 powerline communications (PLC) technology to transform a building's existing internal electrical wiring into an intelligent broadband networking platform without installing new cabling to individual rooms. The system converts power outlets in every room to a high-speed data network connection to offer immediate connectivity.

iBridge

The iBridge is wired to the electrical supply at each point requiring a communications interface to recover the power line carrier signal and convert it back into an Ethernet or serial connection. An iBridge Lite provides similar connectivity in a scaled-down form.

eXtender

The eXtender provides additional power line carrier signal reach, providing scalability and extending the physical range of a PLC network for sites that cannot be covered by a single Gateway.

Inductive Coupler

The Coupler takes the power line carrier signal from the Gateway or eXtender and injects the signal into the electrical wiring.

Gateway

The Gateway network interface converts Ethernet connections to a power line carrier signal and transmits the signal to the Telkonet Coupler, in addition to allowing management and configuration of the Telkonet Series 5 system via a web browser or Telnet command line interface.

Series 5 Integrates with Telkonet's EcoSmart Energy Management

Our PLC technology, combined with the EcoSmart platform, can bring an energy management network to a building where wireless or wired communication is not possible. The diagram below illustrates how Series 5 and EcoSmart might work together.
