California Title 24
The 2013 California Title 24 Green Building Standards Code imposes mandatory energy efficiency requirements for nonresidential buildings as of July 2014. These standards identify numerous opportunities where controlling space temperature, lighting and plug loads will result in a substantial reduction in energy costs and carbon emissions.
Although no clear recommendations are stated in the standards as to how to achieve control of space temperature, lighting and plug loads, it stands to reason that implementing an intelligent energy management system that has been designed to seamlessly monitor and control all these devices through a cloud-based command center is a better solution than cobbling separate components and trying to integrate a number of independent manufacturers' products.
